Announces the following vacancies:

Concertmaster - International Auditions

38-week Season
Salary: Base Principal annual salary $41,332, Concertmaster salary is negotiated.

International Auditions by invitation only will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 in
Kitchener, Ontario

Highly qualified applicants are asked to send:

  1. a one-page resume
  2. a 5 minute audio or video electronic recording (audio file or url) preferably recorded within the past 6 months.

Recordings may include any of the following:

  • standard, audition-level concertos
  • standard orchestral excerpts (including Concertmaster solos)
  • violin sonatas (with or without piano accompaniment)
  • unaccompanied Bach
  • violin concert pieces

bmellanby@kwsymphony.on.ca before May 27, 2013

Submissions will be considered and voted on by the Search Committee in the final week of May. This will constitute the Preliminary Round. Applicants will be notified of the results by email
and successful candidates will be advanced to Round A of the Final Round which will take place
on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Kitchener. Repertoire for the audition is listed below.

Candidates who are successful in Round A will proceed to Round B on the same day.
Candidates who are successful in Round B will be invited to play a week with the orchestra
during the 2013-14 season.

The Invited Week will include a chamber music audition, a prepared interview, a reception with
some of our patrons as well as rehearsals and performances with the orchestra. Repertoire,
expectations and interview questions will be available in advance of the invited week.
Candidates will be paid, and transportation and hotel costs will be covered by the Kitchener-
Waterloo Symphony. Following the conclusion of all candidate invited weeks, the Committee will meet to discuss and vote. The successful candidate will be offered a probationary contract with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony at their earliest availability.

Salary: $31,884, 2013-2014 season

National Auditions will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 in Kitchener, Ontario

Please Note: a refundable $75 deposit is required to accompany each application to
secure an audition time. Candidates are responsible for travel and all associated costs of attendance at the audition.

Candidates must provide proof of Canadian Citizenship, Landed Immigrant status or eligibility to work in Canada, and he/she is responsible for all immigration/employment concerns.
