2015 Summer Camps at the Conrad Centre!

Summer Camps at the Conrad Centre – Music Discoverers and Music Explorers Camps PLUS the NEW Head Start Strings for ages 10-14!

Our campers had a blast last summer!

How do you give your youngster the opportunity to discover the world of music and find the instrument that's right for them? How do you give a young musician the opportunity to broaden his/her skills and explore music further?

Music Discoverers (Ages 5 – 7) & Music Explorers (Ages 8 - 13)

Our Music Discoverers Camp (MDC) provides young children who are relatively new to music the chance to try out a variety of instruments and learn about music through singing and play! Our Music Explorers Camp (MEC) allows older children with and without musical experience to dig deeper into their musical interests and learn about specific instruments, technique, rhythm, active listening, and composition! Learning percussion at the CCPA

Each day will focus on a different instrument family - strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion & voice. Our experienced teachers will teach mini
music lessons on a variety of instruments, and then campers take part in fun and engaging physical, musical and artistic activities throughout each day. The week culminates in an optional performance for peers and parents!
We look forward to presenting another fun summer with three weeks of all-day camps!

New this summer, each week will have a different composer theme where all the activities will relate to learning about the composer.   MDC and MEC run concurrently from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each weekday, with early drop-off/late pick-up options.

Week I (Mozart):  July 6 – 10
Week II (Vivaldi):  July 13 - 17
Week III (Beethoven):  July 20 - 24

New this Summer - Head Start Strings (Ages 10-14)

New this summer, our Head Start Strings camp will provide older children with the opportunity to learn a single instrument through a more intensive week. Ideal for those who have participated in our Music Explorers Camp, this program is designed to give those who wanted to spend more time on a specific instrument a chance to do so.  Campers will have a choice between violin, viola or cello and will spend the week learning one instrument.  Each day will consist of private lessons, sectional coaching, ensemble coaching, musical skills and other artistic activities.

The Head Start Strings camp will take place during the week of Aug 24 - 28.  It will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with early drop-off / late pick-up options.

The camps are held at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Kitchener (36 King St W, near Queen St N). Walking excursions are made to nearby parks.

Registration Fees:

Music Discoverers and Explorers: $275 (each week; all day camp)
