Chopin's Europe

The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Volunteer Committee is pleased to be able to sponsor a remarkable 14 day musical tour of Berry Province, Paris, and Warsaw organized by Pauwels Travel and celebrating Frederic Chopin on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth.

A few days in Berry province will feature the manor house of George Sand. The home has been preserved as it was in Sand's time. Chopin, one of Sand's many lovers, spent 8 summers and wrote many of his compositions while here. George Sand manor house
Chopin's grave in Pere Lachaise Cemetary Several days in Paris will include general sightseeing as well as sites associated with Chopin including Chopin's grave in Père Lachaise cemetary, some homes where he lived, the Chopin Museum and the Chopin monument in Parc Monceau. Hotel Radisson Warsaw Travellers will stay in first-class hotels including Grand Hotel Mercure Bourbon, a converted 17th century monastery in Bourges, Hotel Mercure Montmartres and the deluxe Hotel Radisson-SAS in Warsaw.
In and around Warsaw there will be tours of homes, castles, palaces and cathedrals with many associated with Chopin. His boyhood home in Zelazowa Wola, now a Chopin museum, will be visited as well as the Lazienki Palace park with its Chopin memorial. Chopin Memorial in Lazienki Palace park

There will be music! You will enjoy a concert in Paris, a recital at Chopin's home in Zelazowa Wola and five concerts at different locations in Warsaw in cluding the Philharmonic Concert Hall and the Royal palace.

The Volunteer Committee and hence the K-W Symphony will get a portion of the price of the tour for everyone coming as a result of our support.
