We Love Our Volunteers!
The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Volunteer Committee (KWSVC) originated in 1948 as the KWS Women’s Committee and evolved to become the KWS Volunteer Committee. The Volunteer Committee is an independent charitable organization closely associated with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and works with that organization on many fronts.
Throughout the year the KWSVC holds a variety of events to raise funds which all go to the KWS. The House & Garden Tour of Note, several card parties and the Showcase Boutique at Signature and Pops concerts are regular sources of revenue.
In addition, projects are held from time to time to augment our revenues:
November 15, 2014 - The Love of Music Marathon brings together stars of the K-W Symphony Orchestra who will share the stage with local musicians, both young and old, amateur and professional, for this day-long fund-raising concert featuring all kinds of music.
February 3, 2015 - “Celebrate a Rising Star”, a concert supporting the KWS. Featured will be the 2014 winner of the Ken Murray Concerto Competition, pianist Yvonne Choi. This concert will be held at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts.
April 23, 2015 - Spring Card and Games Party - The KWS Volunteer Committee’s annual Spring Card and Games Party will be held at the Waterloo Mennonite Brethren Church on Thursday, April 23. This fund-raising event for the KWS includes a delicious luncheon and is a fun time with cards, games, door prizes and a chance to play with friends and to meet new ones. Tickets are only $25.00 each. Get your table of players together and call or email Gloria Rudney to reserve your tickets (519-742-9687 OR firstname.lastname@example.org).
June 13, 2015 - House and Garden Tour of Note. Join us for a self-guided tour of wonderful homes and gardens including a silent auction and refreshments.
During the Concert Season – Showcase Boutique – check us out in the Main Lobby at the Centre in the Square when you attend a concert.
