The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Opens The 2016/17 Family and Kinderconcerts Series in October

The KWS 2016/17 Family Series begins in October with Rhythm Rocks! on October 1 at 2:30 pm at Centre In The Square. Led by KWS Assistant Conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, this concert explores how rhythm makes music groove, with tunes from the Renaissance all the way to Rock and Roll. This fun-filled interactive concert will feature the music of Rameau, Gershwin, the Rolling Stones and more!

The Family Series is great for children ages 4-12 and their families. Doors open at 1:15 pm for fun and interactive pre-concert art and music activities throughout the Centre In The Square lobby and KWAG. Pre-concert activities are free with ticket purchase. Tickets are $11 for children and $18 for adults.

Perfect for children ages 5 and under, the Kinderconcert Series of 2016/17 also begins in October with Tunes and Tarantellas – Music and Dance for Tots, at 3 venues throughout Waterloo Region. First, families and their young children can attend at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts on October 8 at 10 or 11 am. This concert, featuring exotic instruments, lots of percussion, a twirling dancer and a truckload of tunes, will also be performed at the Waterloo Region Museum on October 22 at 10:30 am and at the Woolwich Memorial Centre on October 29 at 10:30 am.

For the Kinderconcert series, doors open one hour prior to each concert and children and parents can participate in music activities provided by Music for Young Children. Families are also encouraged to stay after the concert to meet the performers and get up close to the instruments. Tickets are $11 for children and $13 for adults.
