German Romantics

Andrei Feher, conductor
Blake Pouliot, violin

Schumann: Overture, Scherzo & Finale
Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major
Gernsheim: Symphony No. 2 in E-flat major

Friedrich Gernsheim was hugely influenced and inspired by his contemporaries Schumann and Brahms, as evidenced by in his expressive Symphony No. 2, which tips its hat to Brahms’s First Symphony. Banned in Nazi Germany because of his Jewish identity, Gernsheim’s works remained largely undiscovered, halting his fame in later years. Blake Pouliot, the rising star Canadian violinist, joins the KWS for Brahms’s virtuosic and technically demanding Violin Concerto.
