Beethoven: Symphony No. 1 in C major
Rossini: Stabat Mater
Music Director Andrei Feher leads the orchestra in Rossini’s masterpiece, the Stabat Mater. Religious in subject matter, the music is decidedly operatic and unashamedly theatrical, indicative of the operas that made Rossini famous. Beethoven’s First symphony is built on the achievements of his predecessors Haydn and Mozart and is distinctly classical. Though at the time Beethoven and Rossini did not see eye-to-eye, they are now both considered classical greats.
