Barbara Croall: Commission for KWS 75th anniversary
Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D major
Kalinnikov: Symphony No. 1 in G minor

The 75th anniversary season opens with a celebratory commission by Barbara Croall, and a performance by KWS concertmaster Bénédicte Lauzière of one of the best-loved violin concertos. Kalinnikov is a lesser-known Russian composer who died at an early age but deserves a place among the Russian greats. His Symphony No. 1 from the end of the 19th century is full of beautiful, lush melodies and Russian character.
