Hack the Orchestra
On May 22-24, the KWS successfully presented “Hack the Orchestra” - the first hackathon in the world that gave hackers a full orchestra and a concert hall to work with. This 36-hour hackathon drew 50 hackers of all ages and backgrounds. Hackers worked out solutions on how to use technology to enhance the experience of a live concert or event. Innovative and creative ideas resulted, some of which could be developed for use anywhere.
A panel of expert judges selected three winning solutions:
Fractal Orchestra - fractal artwork generated by the music of the orchestra
How Do I Symphony? - connecting new symphony-goers with what they need to engage with symphony music and make the most of their experience
Beat Beethoven - a fun, classic game based on an amusing Beethoven story
The KWS intends to demo the winning solutions at a set of Beethoven Piano Concert concerts on September 25-26, 2015.
