About the concert:

Have you ever stopped to wonder about all of the different things that music can do? This program examines how music helps us celebrate significant events, such as weddings and birthdays. Hear how music can represent what we do at work and at play; how it can depict a story and portray emotions so effectively. The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony will demonstrate this by performing music from movies, operas, symphonies and more.

This concert will introduce grade 1—3 students to some important concepts from the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum through music. Not only will the students see and hear the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony in the acoustically superb Centre in the Square, they will also make connections to their classroom studies and learn new ideas.

To enhance the concert experience the KWS sends some of its musicians into the schools to meet the students, give instrument demonstrations, talk about the concert and answer questions from the students. Please encourage your students to be inquisitive—we love answering questions about what we do and the music we perform!
