The KWS Volunteer Committee (KWSVC) is an independent charitable organization committed to contributing to the financial success of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. Volunteers organize two major fundraisers a year and perform various administrative cost saving activities for the KWS. The KWSVC also supports the KWS Youth Orchestra Program by awarding scholarships to YOP participants. We welcome motivated people of any age who wish to join the KWSVC, whether you are a student looking for volunteer hours, a lover of orchestral music or wish to give back to the community.
For more information about the KWSVC, please visit their website at kwsvc.ca.
The KWSVC is looking for volunteers to assist with hanging posters around the Waterloo Region. Posters will be for upcoming KW Symphony concerts during the current season that will run until May 2023. We are hoping to have posters located within downtown Kitchener, uptown Waterloo, Beechwood, Colonial Hills, Chicopee, Huron Village, Doon, and downtown Cambridge.
If you are interested or have questions, please email Linda Adams-Hauser, KWS Development Coordinator, at LAdams-Hauser@kwsymphony.on.ca. Linda is responsible for supporting the KWSVC with scheduling volunteers for cost saving activities such as postering and mailings, and liaise with the VC and other KWS departments.
House & Garden Tour of Note
The 23rd Annual House and Garden Tour of Note is a self-guided tour of wonderful homes and gardens, including a sealed bid auction, and music performed by some members of the KWS and the KWS Youth Orchestra Program. Our hard-working committee is already planning this year’s House & Garden Tour of Note that will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023. We will be seeking volunteers to greet visitors in each home showcased on the tour this coming Spring.
Love of Music Marathon
The Music Marathon is an “all-day concert” that brings together musicians of all ages and skill levels from our community to raise funds for the KW Symphony. During the pandemic, a 75-days Music Marathon took place on YouTube, showcasing videos sent by performers to support the KWS. Last fall, we hosted a live Love of Music Marathon, and plan to host another in November 2023. If you are interested and would like to join the Love of Music Marathon organizing committee, please click the “Become a Volunteer” button above, and register with the KWS Volunteer Committee.
Love of Music Marathon
We wish to thank the performers of all ages and skill levels who participated in the 2022 Love of Music Marathon and their supporters, who helped raise more than $12,000 for the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony (KWS).
The next House & Garden Tour of Note will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Tickets will go on sale in early May. More details to come in the Spring.
